Oil Pulling is a traditional Ayurveda practice. Essential oils, in combination with edible carrier oils, are swished and held in the mouth to promote oral health, prevent bad breath, heal gums, and detoxify the body. Studies have shown that oil pulling can kill the bacteria that causes cavities, making it a good alternative to brushing with fluoride toothpaste. I have been oil pulling for the last two years. I try and do this every morning because it seems to work for me, but swishing coconut oil in your mouth for 15 minutes makes it hard to hold a conversation, so occasionally I forget! I use coconut oil with peppermint, clove and cinnamon pure essential oils. You can also use grapefruit and/or tea tree essential oils. Why don't you give it a try too?
